The Indian legend left the captaincy before Asia Cup

Ajinkya Rahane stepped down as captain
October 15 is when the next Ranji season will begin. Prior to that, Ajinkya Rahane said, “It was an honor to captain the Mumbai team and win the championship with it,” after stepping down as captain. As the next season draws near, I believe it’s time to get a new captain ready. I have thus made the decision to step down as captain. Ajinkya Rahane said that he is eager to participate in the next season and that he would continue to play for Mumbai. Ajinkya Rahane has played more than 186 games for Mumbai in his 18-year domestic career; however, he only led the team in 70 games.
Cheteshwar Pujara is coming back
A Saurashtra Cricket Association official told Cricbuzz that Pujara has shown interest in participating in the next Ranji season. His expertise will be a huge asset to the team, so this is definitely wonderful news for us. Despite playing 103 Test matches for India, Pujara was unable to secure a spot on Team India after June 2023.
The selectors recently denied Cheteshwar Pujara a spot in the West Zone team for the Duleep Trophy. The selections explained this by stating that they want to assemble a youthful squad. On October 15, Saurashtra will play their opening match of the Ranji season against Karnataka.
