This city of UP will become the number 1 city in a few years by defeating Noida
Uttar Pradesh: Noida is considered to be the best city of UP. Apart from being a part of NCR, it is connected to many cities including Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad. After its excellent roads, infrastructure, metro, now airport facility is also going to be available here. But this crown of Noida can be snatched soon. Another city of UP is developing so fast that, due to its great facilities, this city will overtake Noida in a few years.

This city is Meerut. Recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given a new gift to this city by performing Bhoomi Pujan of Meerut’s first integrated township. This city, which is moving forward under Sustainable Urban Planning, has already been a strong part of NCR, but now the major changes taking place in the infrastructure here are going to make it an excellent city for modern lifestyle. The special thing is that the connectivity facility in this city is so good, which is not there in any other city of NCR.
5 Expressways, Rapid Rail and Metro
Meerut is the only city in NCR that is connected to five major expressways. These are the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Greenfield, Ganga Expressway, Defense Corridor and Eastern Peripheral. Along with this, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is running in Meerut, which runs on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor. This 82 km long corridor connects Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. When fully operational, it will take only 55 minutes to reach Delhi from Meerut. This is the time it takes to reach Ghitorni from Mayur Vihar in Delhi. At the same time, Meerut Metro is also going to start from August 2025.
Jewar Airport and Airstrip
Direct connectivity from Jewar Airport is providing international facilities to this city. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Airstrip, located in the Partapur area of the Meerut district, is spread over about 9 km from Gagol village. Built on 47 acres, this airstrip is currently being used only for chartered (non-scheduled) flights. In February 2014, an agreement was signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) regarding its development. Now efforts have intensified to develop it.
This residential scheme is special
This integrated township of Meerut is being built near the RRTS line in the Partapur area. In this project, residential, commercial, industrial and recreational zones will be in the same complex. People will live as well as work, and all the necessary facilities of life will be available there. It will be based on the concept of walking to work and green living. This project, based on the transit-oriented development model, will also be special because it is in only a few cities of the country, and it aims to reduce dependence on private vehicles by increasing public transport and affordable housing and making a pollution-free city.
After this project, an investment of Rs 15000 crore is being estimated in the city. Along with new employment opportunities, farmers and property investors are likely to get big benefits from this. Apart from this, there is full hope of increasing the necessary basic facilities here.
These will be the challenges in becoming a smart city
The consent of the farmers is necessary for land acquisition for this project in Meerut. Along with this, it is necessary to complete the project on time and prepare a strong network of basic infrastructure like electricity, water, sewerage, roads. Apart from this, there is a challenge to learn from the shortcomings in infrastructure in the cities built in NCR and do better development here.
