MeToo Movement : Khushboo Sundar says this about her father’s abuse

MeToo Movement : Amidst a ‘#MeToo‘ tempest in the Malayalam film industry, actor-turned-politician Khushbu Sundar said on Wednesday that the Justice K Hema Committee, constituted by the Kerala government, was “much needed” to end the mistreatment of female workers in the film business. She added that the “MeToo” movement is prevailing in “our industry breaks you” on her official X account, and she encouraged women to not compromise.

Following the 2017 actress assault case, the Justice Hema Committee was established, and its findings was released to the public last week. There have been cases of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film business, according to the 235-page study.

Ms. Sundar said in a lengthy post on X, “Kudos to the women who have stood their ground and emerged victorious.”
Every industry has instances of abuse, requests for sexual favors, and expectations that women make compromises in order to advance in their careers or get a footing. Why is it required of a woman to work alone? Women are somewhat more affected than males, even though guys also experience it,” she said.

She said that the inquiries like “Why did you do it?” and “What made you do it?” as well as the dread of being humiliated and victimized destroy her.

Ms. Sundar, a BJP leader, said that while the victim may not be familiar to you or me, she needs our “support, an ear to listen, and emotional backing” from us all.

“When questioning why she didn’t come out earlier, we need to consider her circumstances – not everyone is privileged to speak out,” she said.

Sundar Khushbu Regarding Abuse by Fathers

Some question Khushbu Sundar why it took her so long to come out about the abuse she had received from her father.

“I admit that I ought to have spoken sooner. However, what occurred to me was not a trade-off for advancing my job. “I was mistreated by the person who was meant to give me the strongest arms to support me in case I fell,” the woman wrote.

Former National Commission for Women (NCW) member Ms. Sundar said last year that when she was eight years old, her father had sexually assaulted her.

At a town hall last year, the actor-politician said that at the age of 15, she began to rebel against her father, who had abandoned the family.

A Producer’s Warning From Khushbu Sundar

In a media appearance on Wednesday, Khushbu Sundar said that women needed to take a position, come out, and speak out. When asked whether she had experienced anything similar, she said that she had just started seeing South Indian movies and there had been a really strange episode.

A producer once reached out to me as I was the only one without a godfather in this field. Thus, this producer must have assumed that I would give in to the pressure,” the woman said.

When I was filming a Telugu movie, he sort of gave me a clue when he entered my makeup area. After taking off my slippers, I informed him that my size is 41. Would you rather I strike you in front of the unit, or would you like to take a whack right here? She told the journalists, “And that put him in place,” stressing the need of women speaking out for themselves right now.

She said that males had to come out and support them just as much as women do.

“Because we women work in an environment where we assume that the males in our lives would be there to support and shield us. Regretfully, it doesn’t always occur,” she said.
