Jammu and Kashmir: Search operation underway in Poonch district after security forces established contact with militants
Poonch: After security officers made contact with terrorists on Monday night, the Indian Army has increased joint search operations and inserted more soldiers in the Lasana region of Surankote in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, authorities said.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps said on X that the search was carried out in conjunction with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in order to stop the terrorists from fleeing.
“Op Lasana. During a coordinated operation with J&K Police at Lasana, Surankote, yesterday night, contact was made with #terrorists. To stop the terrorists from fleeing, more forces have been sent in and search efforts are still going on,” the statement said.

Following the establishment of touch with terrorists yesterday night, the Indian Army’s Romeo Force also carried out search operations in Poonch.
Officials said that militants opened fire on Romeo Force members, injuring one of the security guards near Lasana village, which is situated on the National Highway that connects Poonch and Jammu.
The area was blocked off and extra security measures were put in place after the event. With the help of a dog team, Indian Army officers are seen doing stringent vehicle checks in early morning photos taken on location.
Lasana hamlet is still under strict surveillance as the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police continue their combined efforts to stop terrorists from escaping.
The Indian Army earlier on Saturday reaffirmed its determination to carry on its operations across the union territories till “terrorists are eliminated” in the face of continuing operations and terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
At a news conference, Shridhar Patil, the Director General of the Kishtwar-Doda Ramban range, stated, “Operations would continue till terrorists are eradicated. The local populace has fully backed the security troops. These missions demonstrate effective security force collaboration.
Following the deaths of three terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, security personnel on Sunday confiscated stockpiles of one M4 gun, two AK-47s, part of their ammunition, and medications.
They have confiscated one M4 rifle, two AK-47s, eleven magazines, sixty-five M4 ammunition, and fifty-six AK-47 bullets.
In addition, certain medications, a cap, and first aid supplies have been found. According to an official statement, officials have also written to the Pakistani side about the medications.
