Investigation – CBI Intensifies Probe Into Twisha Sharma Death Case

Investigation –   The investigation into the death of model and actor Twisha Sharma has entered a crucial stage after the Central Bureau of Investigation officially took over the matter and launched a fresh inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death at her residence in Bhopal.

Cbi probe twisha sharma case

The agency on Monday registered a new FIR based on the case earlier filed by Bhopal Police. Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, have been named in the case linked to allegations of dowry harassment and suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

CBI Team Begins Fresh Examination

A Special Crime Unit team from Delhi arrived in Bhopal to collect all documents prepared during the initial police investigation. Officials gathered medical records, witness statements, digital material, forensic inputs and the original case diary compiled by local authorities.

The case has now been registered under sections connected to dowry death after investigators reportedly found evidence suggesting repeated dowry-related pressure. SIT Chief Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul has been listed as the complainant in the newly registered CBI case.

The transfer of the probe has shifted attention toward statements made by Samarth Singh during lengthy questioning sessions conducted over several days. Investigators are now comparing his version with electronic records, WhatsApp conversations, medical files and allegations made by Twisha’s family members.

Questions Raised Over Pregnancy-Related Claims

According to officials familiar with the inquiry, Samarth denied allegations of physical violence during questioning but acknowledged that the marriage had become strained in recent months. He reportedly claimed that arguments between the couple became more frequent after a family wedding earlier this year.

Investigators also questioned him about the couple’s relationship before marriage, changes in their behaviour after the wedding and the number of times Twisha returned to her parental home after marriage.

One of the most closely examined aspects of the investigation concerns Twisha’s pregnancy and subsequent abortion. Samarth reportedly informed police that he wished to become a father but alleged that Twisha did not want to continue the pregnancy. He claimed that the medical procedure took place after consultation with doctors and with her approval.

Authorities are now examining hospital records and prescriptions to verify the sequence of events and determine whether proper medical procedures were followed.

However, investigators are also studying WhatsApp messages that reportedly suggest Samarth had earlier questioned the pregnancy and expressed doubts about the child’s paternity. Officials believe these digital conversations may contradict some of the statements made during interrogation.

Mental Health Treatment Under Scrutiny

Another important part of the inquiry relates to Twisha Sharma’s mental health treatment. During questioning, Samarth reportedly claimed that Twisha experienced emotional instability and sudden behavioural changes after marriage.

He told investigators that doctors had diagnosed her with an adjustment disorder and that she later received psychiatric treatment. Police are examining whether her family had been informed about the treatment and whether medical intervention became necessary shortly after the marriage.

Twisha’s family has disputed several of these claims. They have alleged that her emotional distress intensified only after disputes connected to the pregnancy surfaced. Family members have also claimed that she experienced severe weight loss during that period.

Investigators are additionally looking into allegations that sleeping medication was administered to Twisha. Samarth reportedly maintained that any medicines prescribed to her were recommended by doctors to manage stress and anxiety.

The CBI is expected to determine whether the treatment was medically justified and whether all decisions were taken with proper consent and transparency.

Deleted Messages Become Key Evidence

Another major focus of the investigation involves deleted mobile phone conversations. Police sources indicated that certain chats exchanged between Samarth, Twisha and members of her family were removed from his device.

Technical experts are currently attempting to recover the deleted data, which investigators believe may provide critical insight into the couple’s relationship and the events leading up to Twisha’s death.

The recovered messages could also play a significant role in examining allegations that Twisha was pressured to leave her job after marriage. Her family has claimed she was prevented from continuing professional work, including online assignments.

Samarth has denied these accusations and reportedly told investigators that Twisha left her job voluntarily after marriage because the couple wanted to spend more time together.

Investigators Verifying Timeline of Final Day

During questioning, Samarth also stated that nothing appeared unusual on the day of the incident. According to his statement, the couple visited a gym, shared meals and spent time together outside their home.

Investigators are now verifying this account using CCTV footage, phone records, digital activity, witness statements and forensic evidence.

The role of retired judge Giribala Singh also remains under examination. Samarth reportedly claimed that his mother often attempted to resolve disagreements between the couple. However, investigators are also reviewing allegations that Twisha felt unsupported during marital disputes and believed her mother-in-law consistently sided with her husband.
