Indian Navy is set to undertake an ‘Operational Demonstration’ off Puri coast of Odisha on the occasion of Navy Day 2024 on December 4
The Indian Navy will hold a ‘Operational Demonstration’ off the coast of Puri in Odisha on December 4, Navy Day 2024, as part of the festivities, a news statement said.
According to the press release: “The Indian Navy will conduct a magnificent Operational Demonstration off the coast of Puri, Odisha, in an exciting celebration of Navy Day 2024, demonstrating the might and diversity of its naval force. In addition to honoring India’s rich maritime history, this event gives the general people a chance to get a close-up look into the world of naval operations, which is often kept out of the public eye.
Viewers will get a unique look into the operational capabilities of India’s marine force as the demonstration highlights the might and adaptability of the Indian Navy. Coordination of ship maneuvers, simulated rescues, and impressive demonstrations by patrol planes, fighter jets, and navy helicopters will be among the highlights. The occasion will also shed light on the intricate abilities and demanding training needed to protect India’s marine interests.
Indian-built ships will be on show at the event, including HAL-made Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs), Delhi-class destroyers, Shivalik-class frigates, Kamorta-class cruisers, and Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs).
The statement goes on to say: “The majority of our countrymen only see news broadcasts or ceremonial parades about the Indian Navy’s operations. The Indian Navy’s formidable ships, advanced equipment, and tactical maneuvers are seldom seen by the general public due to the nature of naval operations, which are often carried out in the wide expanse of the high seas.
This year’s display off Puri gives a close-up look at naval operations and puts the Navy’s capabilities closer to the public. A glimpse of the intricate abilities and training needed to protect our maritime interests will be shown to spectators via exhilarating demonstrations of synchronized ship maneuvers, simulated rescues, and operations by patrol planes, fighter jets, and navy helicopters.
The occasion also honors the marine heritage of Odisha. Historically known for its medieval sea trade routes, Odisha was a center of maritime activity. Every year, Cuttack celebrates Bali Jatra, also known as Bali Yatra.
“This event off Puri is a fitting tribute to Odisha’s maritime legacy,” the announcement says. Odisha’s ties to the water are deep and well-known, as shown by the Sadhabas’ (Odia mariners’) historic expeditions to Southeast Asia, which are now celebrated every year in the historic city of Cuttack as Bali Jatra. As contemporary Indian navy battleships maneuver off the shore, this old legacy will be revitalized, signifying a continuation of maritime customs from antiquity to the present.
It goes on to say: “India’s advancements in domestic defense capabilities are also powerfully shown in this exhibition. Indian-built vessels that represent the country’s advancement in naval engineering and independence, including the Delhi-class destroyers, Shivalik-class frigates, Kamorta-class cruisers, Naval OPVs, and HAL-manufactured ALHs, will be on exhibit.
