The Ahmedabad crime section claims that the gang’s extravagant lifestyle was the true reason for the fundraising.

Ali Meghat Al-Azhar, the guy who was detained, had a tourist visa that allowed him to enter India. According to authorities, he went to many mosques in Gujarat to solicit money under the guise of humanitarian relief, along with three other collaborators who are presently at large.

A Syrian gang member was arrested for soliciting donations from mosques on behalf of Gaza victims. The criminal section said that three of his associates were escaping.

The crime division said that such actions may jeopardize the internal security of India.

The gang’s strategy was straightforward yet dishonest. They pretended to be volunteers gathering aid for the Gaza conflict’s victims. They persuaded people to give by going to mosques. But none of the funds made it to any humanitarian organizations or victims.

Ali acknowledged during interrogation that the funds were used for upscale accommodations, designer clothing, and high-end gadgets. He is now being blacklisted by the criminal section, which is also getting ready to deport him.

All of the gang members were in India on tourist visas, according to the police, and investigations are still ongoing to find the other suspects.
