The 25-year-old English international acknowledged that his time on loan at Swansea from Chelsea from 2019 to 2021 was a turning point in his career.

After joining the Chelsea development system from the Cray Wanderers junior setup in 2007, Guehi was loaned to the Swans, where he established himself and improved as a stopper back.

Guehi said, “I would say that my time on loan at Swansea was a big turning point.”

“Leaving Chelsea’s academy to join such a fantastic club that welcomed me from day one… not playing immediately, having to sit on the bench, not having to travel to games, and experiencing the challenging side of football,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say put me in my place or woke me up. That undoubtedly improved my understanding of the football world,” the center defender said.

Guehi cited two Swansea colleagues, Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer, as the ones who helped him grow as a player and gave him sage advice.

“They insisted that I should just continue being myself and doing well in that field because, in the end, what’s the point if you’re not yourself?” he added.

Guehi also discussed the public persona that contemporary football players must project, but he also mentioned how fortunate he is to be himself at home.

“I can waffle well on the microphone. giving the impression that you are either the good guy or the evil person.

“My sisters are home.” Everyone is just humorous. If you understand what I mean, I get to be myself.

Sometimes, but not always, you have to put on a show in football. I’m not sure whether I’m the only one who thinks this way. It is a very harsh, competitive, and challenging atmosphere. He said, “There’s a lot of ego and arrogance.

It’s a nice thing, but I can relax at home. I’m free to be who I am. They serve as my cornerstone. I like being in their presence.

They’d accuse me of being a troll! That is, I am always trolling. I’m not being serious. To them, I seem quite serious, but not to them. “Uncle Marc” strikes me as being both serious and lighthearted.

He also spoke about his favorite book, describing a Ray Bradbury book as his favorite and Bradley Cooper’s “Limitless” as his preferred film.

“What is my favorite book? “I would say Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury,” Guehi remarked, adding that his favorite movie is Limitless, starring Bradley Cooper.

It takes place in a futuristic world where firemen cause flames rather than extinguish them. One fireman is questioning everything that is being burned, including books and all of the world’s information.
