Jammu-Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha pays tribute to BSF constable Deepak Chingakham
Jammu: During his wreath-laying ceremony in Jammu on Monday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir paid his tribute to BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham.

Deepak Chingakham died on May 10 as a result of cross-border shooting from Pakistan in the RS Pura region of Jammu & Kashmir. Prior to this, Deepak Chingakham received condolences from DG BSF and All Ranks.
“DG BSF and All Ranks honor Constable Deepak Chingakham’s selfless sacrifice while doing his duty. On May 10, 2025, he was wounded by Pakistani cross-border gunfire in the R. S. Pura neighborhood of Jammu, near the International Boundary. Today, May 11, 2025, he passed away from his wounds,” the BSF said in a statement on X.
“Prahari Pariwar stands firm with the bereaved family in these trying times,” the message adds.
Sub-Inspector Md. Imteyaz was killed following cross-border shooting by Pakistan along the International Boundary in the R. S. Pura district of Jammu, according to earlier confirmation from the Border Security Force (BSF).
Additionally, BSF Sub Inspector Md. Imteyaz received last respects from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir. The LG paid tribute to the soldier’s sacrifice by expressing sympathy to his family and wishing them courage at this difficult time.
When BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz’s lifeless remains were sent to Patna, the capital of Bihar, on Monday, Bihar leaders paid their respects. Pakistan Army cross-border fire killed Imteyaz in the Jammu area of RS Pura. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav told reporters, “We are all proud of him; he sacrificed his life for the people of India…brave armed forces are guarding us, and that’s why we are able to sleep peacefully.” According to Bihar Minister Shravan Kumar, the nation is in solidarity with the BSF officer’s family.
“We are proud that our Bihar’s son, our brave armed forces, took revenge for the families of the Pahalgam attack…we are proud of the sacrifice of such brave officers… the whole country, the central govt and PM Modi are with his family,” Kumar said.
