Union Minister Kiren Rijiju flagged off Hajj pilgrims and congratulated them
New Delhi: Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, paid a visit to the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday to offer his congratulations and well wishes to Hajj pilgrims who were leaving. “I am here at the airport to congratulate the Hajj Yatris,” Rijiju told the reporters. There will be around 400 departures today. The administration has been excellent.

Additionally, he announced the Saudi Arabian Deputy Chief of Mission’s arrival.
Kiren Rijiju sent his warmest regards to all 122,518 pilgrims making the holy Haj trip on Tuesday. There were 262 pilgrims from Hyderabad and 288 pilgrims from Lucknow on the initial flights.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India remains committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless Haj pilgrimage,” the Union Minister said in a post on X. Additionally, he prayed for a journey that would be blessed, safe, and spiritually enlightening.
Sincere greetings to all 122,518 pilgrims embarking on this holy trip as #Haj2025 gets underway. Today, 288 pilgrims from Lucknow and 262 pilgrims from Hyderabad boarded the first aircraft. The Indian government, led by Hon. Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, is dedicated to making sure that everyone has a peaceful and easy Haj pilgrimage. The Union Minister remarked, “Prayers for a pilgrimage that is safe, blessed, and spiritually enlightening.”
George Kurian, the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, had earlier on April 22 opened the two-day orientation and training session for the chosen Haj deputationists of Haj 2025 at the SCOPE Complex on Lodhi Road in New Delhi.
In his inauguration speech, the Minister of State urged the Haj deputationists to carry out their assigned responsibilities with the greatest sincerity and dedication, acknowledging their vital role as facilitators of successful Haj operations.
This year, 620 deputationists—266 administrative and 354 medical—were chosen to help CGI Jeddah organize the Haj in Saudi Arabia effectively for Indian pilgrims.
We used a thorough selection procedure to select these deputationists. Before being sent to Saudi Arabia, they get orientation and training on a number of topics, such as the Haj Suvidha App, crowd and disaster management, health concerns, the function of deputationists, and an outline of Haj operations.
The Haj Suvidha App, which was launched during Hajj 2024 and was crucial in distributing information and resolving the complaints of Indian Hajj pilgrims, is being given particular attention in order to familiarize the deputationists with its operation.
By adequately educating the deputationists, the government hopes to further exploit the potential of the app, building on its success during Hajj-2024.
Additionally, the orientation-cum-training program for Haj deputationists will enable Indian pilgrims to successfully complete the Haj since it is the greatest logistical exercise administered by the Government of India outside the nation’s boundaries.
