Trump cuts short his trip to G7 summit amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel
Kananaskis: Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, US President Donald Trump has canceled his trip to Canada, where he was scheduled to attend G7 Summit discussions, in order to return to Washington, DC, one day early.

His early return was announced by the White House as a response to “what’s going on in the Middle East.”
Israel is intensifying its strikes on Tehran as part of its campaign to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump said that the United States and the United Kingdom had reached a trade agreement and that he must return as soon as possible.
Trump responded to shouted inquiries about his early departure by saying, “I have to be back.” He said, “You probably see what I see and I have to be back as soon as I can.”
According to Trump, the team “got a lot done.” Regarding other leaders, he said, “I wish I could stay for tomorrow, but they understand.”
In response to a question about whether he had lately talked with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said, “I’ve spoken to everybody.”
He emphasized that Iran should not possess any nuclear weapons and pushed Iran to sign an agreement. He said, “I gave iran 60 days and they said no, and on the 61st, you saw what happened.”
He said, “I think a deal will be signed or something will happen but a deal will be signed.” Iran wants to strike an agreement, he said.
In response to a question about whether he wants Iran’s government to change, Trump said, “I want to see no nuclear weapon in Iran.”
Mark Carney, the prime minister of Canada, expressed gratitude for Trump’s presence at the G7 Summit. Carney said that he was appreciative of Trump’s visit and that he completely understood when asked whether he was informed of his early departure.
Additionally, Trump said that he had signed a trade agreement with the United Kingdom that had been previously announced in the Oval Office. He said, “We just signed it and it’s done.” He described the US-UK relationship as “fantastic.” According to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, it was a “really important day.”
The president’s intention to shorten his stay at the summit in Kananaskis, Canada, was previously announced on social media by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“President Trump signed a significant trade agreement with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the United Kingdom during his fantastic day at the G7. A lot was done, but President Trump will be departing tonight after dinner with heads of state due to the situation in the Middle East,” Leavitt wrote on X.
Following a press conference on Tuesday, Trump was supposed to leave Canada. Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday (local time) that “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” as the situation between Iran and Israel intensifies, ahead of the White House announcing his early departure.
Shortly after calling on citizens to “immediately evacuate Tehran,” the White House said that Trump will be leaving the G7 conference early in order to “attend to many important matters.”
Trump firmly reaffirmed his long-held position on Iran’s nuclear aspirations in a series of statements on his social media network, Truth Social, threatening dire repercussions.
“The ‘agreement’ I instructed Iran to sign ought to have been signed by them. What a waste of human life and a disgrace. Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon, to put it simply. I repeated it many times. As tensions increase, Trump said that urgent action is needed. “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” he said.
In a subsequent tweet, Trump said, “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” connecting his tough position on Iran’s nuclear program to his larger political philosophy. “Raise America to greatness once more!”
Trump later made fun of Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News personality, for his remarks against Iran. “Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!”

In a military operation known as “Operation Rising Lion,” Israel conducted a huge bombardment on Iranian military and nuclear targets last week. Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles toward Israeli cities.
“Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement shared on social media platform X. He also said that the mission would last “for as many days as it takes to remove this threat.”
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has begun a massive drone and missile operation on Israeli fighter aircraft fuel manufacturing facilities and energy supply centers in retaliation for the Israeli attack, according to Iranian News Agency IRNA. The attacks, known as “Operation True Promise 3,” were carried out as a direct response to Israeli assault.
