In a post to X, the Embassy said, “Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, admits that Iran was not going to make a nuclear weapon.” We said that there was no evidence of Iran making a concerted attempt to develop a nuclear weapon. The article, which was shared by Iranian Press TV, included Grossi’s interview with CNN.

When asked about Iran’s nuclear weapons, Director General Grossi responded in the interview, “What we informed and what we reported was that we did not have, as in coincidence with some of the sources you mentioned there, that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon.”

As per an earlier claim by the Times of Israel, which cited Hebrew media, Israel learned on Sunday that Iranian scientists had successfully completed nuclear weapon design trials, putting the country only weeks away from producing a bomb.

According to the Times of Israel, intelligence officials presented the political leadership with this “golden information” prior to the decision to launch preemptive strikes on Friday. They also expressed concern that Israel was not fully informed and that Tehran might be even further along in its nuclear bomb development than what was known, according to Army Radio, which cited anonymous security officials.

The Trump administration’s position on Iran’s nuclear program was reiterated by the US State Department on Tuesday (local time), stressing that “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon” in the face of rising tensions between Iran and Israel.

US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters at a briefing that President Donald Trump has consistently pledged to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons since he took office.

“Now that Iran and Israel are at odds, President Trump has made it plain that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons. It is obvious that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons. Since assuming office, President Trump has made it plain that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons, as the White House reminds us,” Bruce added.

The events come following rounds of assaults on people in hotspot regions as Israel and Iran trade strikes for the sixth day. According to Israel’s defense minister, the nation intends to hit “very significant targets in Tehran.” Over Tel Aviv, explosions from approaching Iranian missiles were observed early on Wednesday local time.
