Nepal condemns barbaric terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam

Kathmandu: Nepal expressed sympathy with the Indian government and people on Wednesday and denounced the terror act that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, calling it barbarous.

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, X: “Nepal categorically denounces the heinous terrorist assault on defenceless tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. We send our warmest sympathies to the relatives of the deceased and hope everyone who was hurt a speedy and complete recovery.”

“In this time of sorrow, Nepal stands in unwavering solidarity with the Government and people of India,” the statement said. Nepal rejects terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations and holds that such horrible acts of terrorism cannot and can not be excused on any basis, in keeping with our strong and moral stance.”

Arzu Rana Deuba, the country’s foreign minister, said that Nepal is investigating claims that any Nepali nationals may have been killed in the Pahalgam terror assault.

While denouncing Tuesday’s horrific act, the Foreign Minister said in a post on X that investigations into allegations of potential deaths of Nepali citizens are in progress.

“Reports that any Nepali citizens may have been killed in this terrible occurrence are now being confirmed. As further details become available, they will be shared,” Deuba said.

KP Sharma Oli, the prime minister of Nepal, declared his solidarity with India and denounced all acts of terrorism.

“Our sincerest sympathies go out to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist incident. Nepal heartily supports India and denounces all forms of terrorism. To confirm reports of a Nepali national among the victims, close cooperation has been established, and all required support will be given.

On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire on visitors in the Pahalgam region of the Anantnag district in South Kashmir. A search is being conducted to find the assailants, and the area has been blocked. To stop the terrorists from escaping, security personnel have increased their inspections at all exits.

Prime Minister Modi concluded his two-day state visit by returning to Delhi. Following Tuesday’s terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Modi did not attend the formal dinner that Saudi Arabia was hosting.
