According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was the most Khawarij that Pakistani troops have ever killed in a single battle throughout the nation’s ongoing war on terrorism.

The infiltration attempt was discovered in the approximate vicinity of Hassan Khel, North Waziristan District, during the evenings of April 25–26 and 26–27, according to the ISPR. A sizable contingent of terrorists, known by the state as khawarij, or militants, was advancing into Pakistani territory. “Our forces successfully attacked and stopped the infiltration effort. The ISPR declared, “Our precise and skillful engagement has sent all fifty-four Khawarij to hell.”

Following the raid, the insurgents discovered a substantial cache of explosives, ammunition, and firearms. According to ISPR intelligence reports, the organization was entering Pakistan at “the behest of their ‘foreign masters'” in order to carry out high-profile terrorist acts. The ISPR news statement emphasized that such activities were considered betrayals and acts of treason against the state and its people.

In addition, the ISPR implicated regional tensions in the infiltration attempt, citing India’s “baseless accusations against Pakistan” and implying that Fitna al Khwarij (FAK), the name it gives to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was acting “on whose cues FAK is operating.”

The military said that, following the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty and the weakening of diplomatic relations, India was trying to divert Pakistan’s security forces from a crucial struggle against terrorism, according to Dawn.

The ISPR said that India’s strategic goal was to ease pressure on terrorist organizations like FAK that are “reeling from the onslaught” of Pakistan’s military forces, citing the National Security Council’s recent meeting to examine Pakistan’s reaction.

The ISPR did, however, commend Pakistani forces for their “exceptional professionalism, vigilance, [and] preparedness” in averting a “potential catastrophe.”

“Such bold and decisive actions further strengthen our collective resolve and underscore that Pakistan is winning the war against terrorism while achieving significant successes ,” it said, reinforcing the military’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s borders and eliminating terrorism.

In the meanwhile, the ISPR said that three different battles in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday and Saturday resulted in the deaths of 15 terrorists and the martyring of two troops.

Eight terrorists were killed in Karak District, four in North Waziristan, and three more in the Gomal Zam region of South Waziristan as a result of intelligence-based operations (IBOs). According to Dawn, 28-year-old Lance Naik Usman Mohmand of Charsadda and 26-year-old Sepoy Imran Khan of Kurram accepted martyrdom during the operations.

Recently, terrorist violence has increased in Pakistan. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies said that in March, the number of terrorist assaults surpassed 100 for the first time since November 2014.

Pakistan is now ranked second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with 1,081 terrorism-related deaths, a 45 percent increase over the previous year.
