Brazil urges India and Pakistan to use extreme caution in order to avoid tensions rising
Brasilia: To avoid a rise in tensions, Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged India and Pakistan to use the greatest amount of moderation. Additionally, it cautioned Brazilian citizens from making unnecessary trips to Kashmir and the surrounding regions.

Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is keeping an eye on the condition of Brazilians in the region and reaffirmed its condemnation of any acts of terrorism in a statement released on Thursday about the crisis between India and Pakistan. Additionally, it provided Brazilian citizens in New Delhi and Islamabad with the consulate emergency hotline numbers.
It said, “The Brazilian government reiterates its denunciation of any acts of terrorism, as stated in the statement of April 23 following the assault in Kashmir the day before. Brazil urges the concerned parties to use the greatest amount of caution to avoid a heated conflict.
Brazilian citizens are advised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to avoid non-essential travel to Kashmir and the surrounding areas. Itamaraty is closely monitoring the situation of the local Brazilian population. There have been no reports of casualties from Brazil. The following consular emergency hotline numbers are still available for the Brazilian community to contact the Brazilian embassies in New Delhi and Islamabad,” the statement said.
After the April 22 terrorist assault in Pahalgam, tensions between India and Pakistan have increased. On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces responded to the Pahalgam terror assault by launching precise strikes on Pakistan’s terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Indian soldiers conducted Operation Sindoor, which effectively struck nine terror locations.
The Indian Army said that repeated drone assaults and ceasefire breaches by Pakistan along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir were effectively repulsed and forcefully reacted to by the Indian Army during the intervening night of May 8 and 9.
The drone assaults were “effectively neutralized,” and the ceasefire breaches were promptly addressed, according to a post on X on Friday by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI). The ADG PI said that the Indian Armed Forces’ effective reaction was part of Operation Sindoor, which was initiated early on Wednesday and saw the Armed Forces destroy nine terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
“On the intervening nights of May 8 and 9, 2025, the Pakistan Armed Forces conducted many strikes throughout the whole Western Border utilizing drones and other weaponry. Along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces also engaged in a number of ceasefire violations (CFVs). The drone strikes were successfully repelled, and the CFVs received a suitable response. The Indian Army is still dedicated to defending the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Army said, “We will respond with force to all evil schemes.”
According to sources who spoke to the media, the Indian Army conducted a massive counter-drone operation at the LoC and International Borders (IB) earlier on Thursday, shooting down over 50 Pakistani drones. Following Pakistan’s unsuccessful efforts to deliver several swarm drones into Indian territory in various areas, the operation was initiated.
