At least six people killed in mass shooting in Thailand
Thailand: A horrific shooting in Thailand on Monday claimed the lives of at least six individuals. Four of the dead have reportedly been identified as security officers at a well-known fresh food market in Bangkok.

Six people have been killed, including the shooter who killed himself after firing at the crowded marketplace, according to news agency Reuters.
Four market security officers, a lady, and the shooter are among the six people killed, according to Erawan Emergency Medical Centre, which keeps an eye on hospitals in Bangkok.
The incident happened at Or Tor Kor Market, which is close to Chatuchak Market, one of the main and most visited tourist attractions in the Thai capital.
“The motive is being looked at by police. According to Worapat Sukthai, deputy police head of Bangkok’s Bang Sue district, “It’s a mass shooting so far,” AFP said. The shooter also killed themself, according to police sources.
They are looking “for any possible link” between the mass shooting and the ongoing border conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia, the deputy police commander stated.
Gun violence is on the increase in Thailand
There has been a sharp rise in gun violence in Thailand in recent years.
The most recent incident occurred in May 2025 in Thailand’s Ban Don Subdistrict, U Thong District, after a shooting spree by a 33-year-old man. Three people were killed in the attack: one guy and two women. All of the pupils at the Wat Yang Sawang Arom School were evacuated as a result of the gunfire, which also happened 50 meters away.
A 14-year-old child was taken into custody in October 2023 after he killed two people and injured several others in a shooting at Bangkok’s Siam Paragon shopping center. Another horrific event occurred in October 2022 when a massacre at a child care center in northeastern Thailand claimed the lives of around 36 individuals, including 24 children.
A former member of the Royal Thai Police carried out the assault and killed his wife, stepson, and himself to end the tragedy.
