The State Department has decided to approve a potential foreign military sale of Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness and associated equipment to India for an estimated USD 131 million, according to a statement released by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency on Wednesday. Today, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency informed Congress of this potential sale by delivering the necessary certification.

“The Indian government has requested the purchase of SeaVision software, including the requested enhancements; training for the Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT); remote software and analytical support; access to SeaVision documentation; and other relevant logistical and program support components,” it continued. The total estimated expenditure is USD 131 million.

By strengthening the strategic relationship between the United States and India and enhancing the security of a significant defense partner that remains a vital force for political stability, peace, and economic advancement in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia regions, the proposed sale will further support the United States’ foreign policy and national security goals, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

“By strengthening its strategic posture, analytical skills, and marine domain knowledge, the proposed sale would increase India’s capacity to counter present and future threats. It will be easy for India to incorporate these items and services into its military. The fundamental military balance in the area won’t change as a result of the planned sale of this assistance and equipment. Hawkeye 360, based in Herndon, Virginia, will be the major contractor,” it said.
