Vice Presidential Election: Sudarshan Reddy files nomination along with Rahul Gandhi
Vice President Election: The 2025 vice presidential election field is determined. On September 9, the India-NDA alliance will compete. The India Block and the NDA have both declared their candidates. Today, Sudarshan Reddy, a candidate for the India Block, declared his intention to join the fight. B. Sudarshan Reddy, a former Supreme Court justice and the vice presidential candidate for the India Block, submitted his candidacy papers today, Thursday. At Sudarshan Reddy’s nomination, a number of prominent people were in attendance, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi.
In the race for vice president, Sudarshan Reddy is running against CP Radhakrishnan, an NDA candidate. Currently serving as Maharashtra’s governor, Radhakrishnan is a prominent Tamil Nadu BJP figure. In front of PM Modi, he submitted his nomination yesterday, or on Wednesday. PM Modi emerged as CP Radhakrishnan’s principal proposer. On September 9th, the vice presidential election will take place.
B. Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, DMK leaders, and other party leaders were present when Sudarshan Reddy submitted his nomination for vice president. Rahul Gandhi was seen in the shadows with Sudarshan Reddy as he prepared to submit his candidacy. Mallikarjun Kharge was going ahead, as was Sonia Gandhi. Sudarshan Reddy was strolling with Rahul Gandhi. He was closely followed by Priyanka Gandhi and other opposition party leaders.
Opposition leaders claim that 80 Members of Parliament from different parties have signed the nomination papers supporting his candidacy. Justice Reddy made a speech after submitting his nomination, asking everyone to support him. He is entering the political sphere with “a deep sense of humility, responsibility, and unwavering commitment to the values enshrined in the Constitution,” according to Sudarshan Reddy.
“As a Supreme Court judge, a law student, and a citizen steeped in this republic’s democratic traditions, I have learned through my public service that the true strength of India lies in the protection of constitutional morality, the dignity of every individual, and our unity in diversity,” he added. ‘Much broader than a struggle between two persons’ is how he put the approaching vice presidential election. According to him, the goal of this election is to uphold the creators of the Constitution’s vision of India, one in which institutions operate freely and impartially, dissent is recognized, and Parliament operates honestly.

I am starting this journey with optimism for the people and confidence in our Constitution. May we always be guided by our democratic spirit.
