A confrontation along the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border resulted in the deaths of two hardcore Naxals, according to Bastar Inspector General (IG) of Police Sundarraj P. Two corpses and an AK-47 were found. Search efforts are in progress. The corpses of the two Naxals and an AK-47 weapon were found at the scene, according to IG Bastar, P. Sundarraj.

A search is still underway in the area by security personnel. 26 Maoists, three of whom were carrying cash incentives, just turned themselves in to top police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Dantewada on Monday, significantly bolstering anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.

As part of the current ‘Lon Varratu’ (Come Home) program, which tries to rehabilitate former radicals into normal society, the surrender occurred at the District Reserve Guard (DRG) headquarters.

The district police, CRPF, and the state’s special rehabilitation policy worked together to assist the surrender. Each Maoist who surrenders would get Rs 50,000 in immediate aid as part of the state government’s new rehabilitation strategy. They will also have access to a variety of advantages, such as agricultural land and training for skill development.
Since its inception, the ‘Lon Varratu’ campaign has achieved significant success. 953 Maoists have turned themselves in so far, including 224 who were carrying financial prizes.

Vishnu Deo Sai, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, had earlier praised his government’s efforts to develop rehabilitation measures, which led to the approximately 1,314 Naxalites’ surrender. Naxalism was “breathing its last” in the state, he said.

Speaking to ANI at the ‘Vichaar for Viksit Chhattisgarh’ colloquium, Sai said that the state government has made accommodations for about 15,000 people who have given up to become part of the mainstream under the PM Awas Yojana. According to him, the government was also trying to make the Naxalites who had surrendered employable by giving them “skill development” training.

“Approximately 1,314 Naxalites have turned themselves in, and the administration is treating them fairly. For them, we have made specific arrangements for 15,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In order to help them find jobs, we are focusing on their skill development while still keeping them at the district headquarters. At the ceremony, the CM told ANI, “We also offer them jobs in third and fourth classes of government organizations based on their qualifications.”

“We advised the Naxalites to stop using violence and bullets and to join the mainstream of development as soon as our administration arrived. Vijay Sharma, the home minister of our state, visited many other states, including Assam, to observe their rehabilitation programs,” he said.

With barely a few cadres remaining, CM Sai claimed that naxalism was dying in Chhattisgarh. In the last 1.5 years, he noted, about 359 Naxalites with enormous bounties on them had been slain.
