Thousands of devotees offered prayers at Kamakhya Devi temple in Guwahati, Assam on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya
Guwahati: On Monday morning, thousands of worshippers gathered at the Kamakhya Devi temple in Guwahati, Assam, to offer prayers in honor of Somvati Amavasya. In Hinduism, Somvati Amavasya is particularly significant because it is a time when followers bathe, give to the needy, worship, and do rituals for their ancestors.

Born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Neeraj Pathak said he was delighted to visit the Kamakhya Devi shrine on Somvati Amavasya. “I feel fantastic. It was a nice Darshan, and I’m from Bhopal.
As Neelam Pathak, another devotee, put it, “I liked it very much; it was very relaxed.”
People are encouraged to employ Somvati Amavasya to rid themselves of “Pitru Dosha” since it is devoted to worshiping ancestors or forebears.
Because of its unique importance, Monday Amavasya is celebrated as Somvati Amavasya in remembrance of ancestors.
On the festival of Somvati Amavasya, thousands of devotees gathered in Haridwar early on Monday morning to take a sacred plunge in the Ganga.
Because they believed that these deeds would bring favors, prosperity, and divine grace, pilgrims from all across the nation congregated at the ghats to conduct these holy rituals.
“We keep coming here, and at least when we do, we take a bath two or three times,” said Ashwini Kumar, who had traveled from Delhi to take a sacred plunge in the Ganga. There is a certain aura, and it seems very nice and pious.
Haryana native Umesh Kaushik was traveling to Haridwar with his companions. “This is a very excellent, auspicious Nakshatra, and we have come here to bathe in the Ganga on Somvati Amavasya, which we have gotten the chance to soak up. by taking a Ganges dip. The fact that we have come to take a Ganges dip today is very fortunate for us.
