Security forces launched a joint operation in the hill and valley districts of Manipur

Manipur: From April 27 to May, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles organization, under the command of the Spear Corps, conducted a number of intelligence-based operations in the country’s hill and valley districts of Kakching, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi.

Along with the seizure of 31 guns, 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and warlike items, the operations, which were coordinated with the Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, resulted in the arrest of 17 cadres from the hill and valley-based organizations.

Four weapons, including a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), two single-barrel guns, one bolt-action rifle, grenades, improvised launchers (pompi), and ammunition, were found during a joint search by Assam Rifles, Indian Army, and Manipur Police in Moltingcham village, Kakching district, on April 26.

The same day, an area dominance patrol at T Minou in Tengnoupal district recovered six improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

On April 29, the Indian Army, Manipur Police, and Assam Rifles carried out another operation in many areas that resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

During a search along the Salvom-Molnoi axis in Tengnoupal, Assam Rifles demolished three bunkers and found eight IEDs, grenades, ammo, and warlike supplies.

Two weapons, including a 7.62 mm SLR, a 9 mm pistol, grenades, and ammunition, were found during a search operation conducted by the Indian Army and Manipur Police in response to specific intelligence about the presence of weapons and warlike stores near Loktak Lake, approximately 6 km southeast of Bishnupur.

In a separate operation that same day, the Indian Army, the CRPF, and the Manipur Police retrieved a secret stash of four guns from the dense forest near Kangpokpi’s Phaileng region. Two SLRs, a carbine, and a domestic rifle made up the arsenal.

In addition, eight weapons—two SLRs, one INSAS rifle, one 12-bore SBBL, one Pt.22 rifle, three homemade mortars (pompi), grenades, and ammunition—were found during a joint search conducted by the Manipur Police and Assam Rifles at Kangpokpi on April 30.

Five weapons, including a 7.62 mm SLR, a.303 Bolt Action Rifle, two 12-bore single-barrel bolt rifles, an improvised launcher (Pompi), and grenades, were recovered on May 1st because of an intelligence-based operation conducted by Assam Rifles in the approximate vicinity of Maohing Kuki in Kangpokpi.

Assam Rifles retrieved eight weapons in another intelligence-based search conducted on May 4 at Samuchep Lok Nala, close to Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur. These included two SLRs, two 9mm pistols, one single-barrel rifle, two homemade mortars, grenades, ammo, and warlike supplies. The confiscated goods and the arrested cadres have been handed over to the Manipur Police.
