Security forces killed a Pakistani intruder in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector
Ferozpur: According to reports, the Border Security Force (BSF) killed a Pakistani infiltrator in Punjab’s Ferozpur sector early on Thursday. During the intervening night of May 7-8, the unidentified invader was shot and killed as he crossed the International Border.
“Under the cover of darkness, the person was seen moving toward the border protection barrier and crossing the international boundary. The invader persisted in moving ahead in spite of the BSF forces’ challenges; therefore, the personnel opened fire,” sources informed the media report.
Throughout the operation, the BSF soldiers were on high alert. Around dawn, the local police department found the intruder’s corpse and sent it for further examination. The deceased’s identification has not yet been made public by authorities.
The External Affairs Ministry said on Thursday that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), resulting in the deaths of thirteen civilians in Poonch and the injury of 59 persons, 44 of whom were in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The material was provided by the MEA’s External Publicity and Public Diplomacy Division. After India’s military launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7 against nine terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Pakistani army retaliated with heavy fire along the Line of Control.
Since the evening of April 25–26, Pakistan has been using an unprovoked small arms ceasefire. Following Operation Sindoor, the Pakistan Army targeted civilian locations in the Jammu and Kashmir border regions on Wednesday, continuing its string of ceasefire breaches. According to officials, the shelling destroyed many homes and sent locals into a panic.
Pakistan’s shelling caused cracked buildings, broken window glass, and damage to civilian infrastructure.
In response to the Pakistani Army’s unprovoked firing of small arms and artillery guns across the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of May 7 and 8, the Indian Army has reacted proportionately. The Pakistani Army also fired in the Uri and Akhnoor sectors in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as in the Kupwara and Baramulla districts.
The Indian Army is closely monitoring Pakistan’s ceasefire breaches after Indian troops accurately attacked nine terror infrastructure locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as part of Operation Sindoor.
