Security beefed up outside Amritsar International airport amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan
Amritsar: Security outside Amritsar’s Shri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport has increased due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Until further notice, all airport operations are suspended.

Yadwinder Singh of ACP Airport in Amritsar said, “The airport has sufficient security. Only airport employees have access inside. The police are always on patrol. Protocols to be followed have been communicated to the locals.
During a massive counter-drone operation along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Borders (IB) on Thursday night, the Indian Army shot down over 50 Pakistani drones, according to sources who spoke to the media report.
For everyone’s protection, Amritsar’s District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) has advised staying indoors, turning off lights, and drawing curtains.
“We kindly ask that everyone remain indoors, away from windows, turn off lights, and draw window curtains. Panic is not necessary. The Amritsar DPRO said, “A siren will now sound, and once it is clear, we will relay the message once more.”
In addition, the DPRO praised the military and urged cooperation from the general people. “We must remain home to assist our military troops when they are on duty.” Don’t panic,” the official continued.
Earlier, the Indian Army shot down two Pakistani drones in Jammu and Kashmir’s Naushera region, according to defense officials. During a fierce artillery battle between Indian and Pakistani soldiers, the drones were shot down.
Pakistan also attempted to attack military installations along the International Border (IB) in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, according to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff. Nonetheless, the assault was effectively repelled by the Indian Armed Forces, and no casualties were recorded.
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff said on social media platform, X: “Pakistan used missiles and drones to strike the military stations of Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir near the International Boundary. No losses. The Indian Armed Forces used both kinetic and non-kinetic methods to neutralize the threat in accordance with the SoP.
