Police continued their joint operation to search for terrorists in the forest area of Lasana in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir
Poonch: In an effort to track down terrorists said to be hiding in the area, the Indian Army’s Romeo Force and the Special Operations Group (SOG) carried out their combined operation in the Lasana woodland area of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday for the tenth day in a row.

After a gunfight between security personnel and militants on April 14, the search operations began on April 15. Areas with deep forests are being searched extensively by security officers, who have sealed off the region.
Officials said that militants fired on Romeo Force members, injuring one of the security guards near Lasana hamlet on the National Highway that runs from Poonch to Jammu. On the Jammu-Rajouri-Pooch highway 144, security personnel are on high alert.
Ahmed Din, a Rajouri Traffic Police officer, stated, “We are examining local vehicles by looking up their licenses. A loaded truck is not permitted since it might cause traffic jams. We have the backing of the Army in addition to the District Police and Traffic Police. There are always nakas.
According to sources, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps retrieved a number of weapons and ammunition from the Baramulla area of Jammu and Kashmir earlier on Wednesday.
Chinar Corps said on social media on X that they had found two AK-series rifles, five magazines, one pistol, ten kg of RCIED, and other war-related items in the area.
“Update: OP TIKKA, Baramulla: Five magazines, one pistol, ten kilograms of RCIED, two AK series rifles, and other war-related items have been found at the location. The terrorists’ identities are being determined,” Chinar Corps said on X on Wednesday.
The security forces had begun operations to eradicate militants across the Kashmir valley after the Pahalgam terrorist strike.
Terrorists’ movements close to the Line of Control were monitored, as was their crossing of the line at approximately three in the morning. Two hours of nonstop gunfire later, the security forces ambushed and killed two terrorists. Both terrorists were found to have two AK rifles, a 9mm Chinese handgun, magazines, and a significant amount of ammo.
“We conducted a counter-infiltration operation last night. Over the last several days, our intelligence agencies have been providing our security forces with constant updates about the activities of Pakistani terrorists in the Uri area. Brigadier Mayank Shukla of 161 Brigade informed media that the Indian army learned of the terrorists’ presence at a launchpad close to Uri nallah at approximately one in the morning on the intervening nights of April 22 and 23.
The terrorists’ heinous assault on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday claimed the lives of up to 26 persons.
Terrorists carried out one of the bloodiest attacks in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama incident, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF jawans, at Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday. Following the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, the incident was among the most significant acts of terrorism in the area.
