“Today we have organized this tribute ceremony…we, the people of Sikkim, are always standing there whenever the country needs us…this program is to extend that message that we stand strong with the country,” Chief Minister Tamang said in his remarks to the crowd on Sunday during the tribute ceremony.

Terrorists opened fire on visitors on April 22 at Baisaran Meadow, a well-known location in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam. One citizen of Nepal and twenty-five Indians were among the dead. The event ranks among the bloodiest in the area, following the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers.

India took firm action against Pakistan for encouraging cross-border terrorism in the wake of the Pahalgam terror assault.

Recognizing the gravity of this vicious attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which decided to put the 1960 Indus Water Treaty on hold until Pakistan “credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism.”

At its April 23 meeting, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) received a thorough briefing on the Pahalgam terrorist incident. In addition to expressing its sincere sympathies to the victims’ families and wishing for the wounded to recover quickly, the CCS strongly denounced the assault.

The briefing to the CCS highlighted the cross-border connections of the terrorist act. The briefing highlighted that this assault coincided with the Union Territory’s successful elections and consistent advancements in economic development and growth.

The authorities threatened to severely punish the terrorists for carrying out and planning the assault.

In the meanwhile, the hunt for evidence has been stepped up by National Investigation Agency (NIA) personnel that have been at the scene of the Pahalgam terror assault since April 23.

The teams are interviewing witnesses who saw the April 22 incident, under the direction of an IG, DIG, and SP from the anti-terror agency.

Following the Pahalgam incident, the Indian Army is also on high alert and has launched several search operations to neutralize the terrorists. Nationwide indignation has been triggered by the occurrence, and rallies calling for tougher sanctions against Pakistan for the Pahalgam assault have broken out all throughout the nation.
