Since May 7, Ayyappan, who resided with his spouse in Mysuru’s Vishweshwara Nagar industrial neighborhood, has been absent. He is survived by his wife and two kids. The Srirangapatna police have started an inquiry into the cause of death and filed a complaint.

On Saturday night, the police were notified that an unidentified corpse had been seen in the river. The identity of the scientist was revealed when they arrived at the location and removed the corpse from the river. On the riverbank, Ayyappan’s scooter was discovered. When he failed to return after three days, the family filed a report at the Mysore police station in Vidyaranapuram.

He may have leaped into the river, according to preliminary inquiry, but police said that a thorough investigation can only determine the cause of death. Ayyappan had many high-ranking jobs around the country and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fisheries.

The Padma Shri recipient played a key role in advancing India’s Blue Revolution and bolstering the nation’s agricultural sector; the government acknowledged his efforts in 2022.
