Manipur: Security officials launch search operation in sensitive hill and valley districts

Imphal: According to a press release from the Manipur Police, the state’s situation has been tight but under control during the last 24 hours. Searches were carried out by security personnel in areas of the valley and hills that were deemed susceptible.

Six improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found during these operations on April 26 in T Minou village, which is under the jurisdiction of Moreh Police Station, in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur. A bomb disposal squad successfully defused the IEDs.

Two active members of the outlawed group KCP were also taken into custody as a result of the operation (Noyon). Shagolshem Lemba Meitei, 43, and Shagolshem Romen Meitei, 40, who resided in Loushangkhong Makha Leikai in the Imphal East district, were the people who were detained. They were found to have two cell phones, two wallets, and a four-wheeler.

Seven automobiles thought to have been stolen or taken by anti-social elements were found by the Manipur Police during a separate operation on April 26. During the procedure, 207 vehicles also had their tinted glasses removed.

Earlier on April 25, security personnel searched Wangmayum Barul Alam’s home in Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom Makha, which is under the jurisdiction of Lilong Police Station in Thoubal District, in a similar operation. 3.9 kg of brown sugar, seven soap containers with 12 grams of suspected heroin powder each, 0.53 grams of brown sugar, seven 100 ml bottles of Codeine, and seven cell phones were among the things seized.

Strict procedures were put in place by the security personnel to guarantee the safe passage of cars transporting necessities along National Highway-2 (NH-2). In all, 299 cars were tracked, and 107 checkpoints were positioned in different areas.

Additionally, the Manipur Police urged the people not to believe or disseminate rumors and phony films. It was suggested that citizens use the Central Control Room’s rumor-free hotline (9233522822) to verify any information. Police issued a warning that disseminating false content on social media might lead to legal action. Additionally, they asked everyone to promptly turn in any stolen explosives, ammunition, or weapons to the appropriate authorities.
