Manipur: Security forces arrest arms dealers and cadres during ongoing search operation in the state

Imphal: According to a press release, security personnel have been conducting search operations and area domination across the state’s hill and valley districts, keeping the situation in Manipur uncomfortable but under control during the last 24 hours.

Three illegal weapons traffickers were detained by security authorities in Puhkhao Ahallup Makha Leikai, Imphal East District, on Tuesday. One of them was an active member of the UNLF (Pambei) organization. According to reports, the suspects, who were engaged in illicit arms trafficking in the region, were waiting for an illegal arms smuggler to sell them weapons and ammunition worth Rs. 3.5 lakh.

Ayekpam Boiboy Meitei, alias Ishanta Meitei (26); Leishangthem Inaoton Singh, alias Aphao (23); and Naorem Naocha Meitei, alias Chinglakpa (38), are the people that were detained. Three cell phones, eight 7.62mm rifle rounds, and an INSAS weapon with a magazine were among the confiscated goods.

Security officers detained a number of active extortion-linked cadres in connected operations. One of the prisoners was Khundongbam Prithibiraj Meitei, also known as Sathiba, a 23-year-old KCP (PWG) member from Thoubal District who was accused of extorting local companies. He was found in possession of a two-wheeler, a cell phone, and a hand grenade.

KCP (MFL) and PREPAK cadres engaged in extortion and intimidating people in several areas and were also arrested that same day. Salam Karan Singh, also known as Ningthoulakpa, 21, of the KCP (MFL); Khangembam Apui Meitei, 26; and Moirangthem Alex Meitei, 23, of PREPAK, were among those taken into custody.

In a significant narcotics seizure, 112 soap packs carrying 1267 kilos of suspected brown sugar were confiscated by Manipur Police from Mungsanglian @ David (33) in Churachandpur District. Furthermore, 51 bottles of “Codeine Phosphate and Tripolidine HCI Syrup 100 ml TUSSREX-TR” were found in the hands of 44-year-old Fatima when she was detained in Thoubal District.

During a special drive, police were able to successfully retrieve six automobiles as part of their ongoing efforts to recover stolen vehicles. To guarantee the secure transportation of necessities, 110 checkpoints have been erected across the state’s most vulnerable regions.

Authorities have cautioned that anybody who propagates false information may face legal repercussions and advised the public not to believe rumors or phony movies that are making the rounds on social media. As stated in a news release.
