New Delhi: According to industry analysts on Friday, India’s private space ecosystem has a solid foundation because of the government’s aggressive policies, strategic backing, and direct leadership from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Industry insiders have made these statements as India gets ready to commemorate its second National Space Day on August 23, which commemorates the spectacular Chandrayaan-3 soft landing on the Moon’s south pole. The Director General of the Indian Space Association (ISPA), Lt. Gen. A.K. Bhatt (Retd), said that the success of ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 has created new opportunities for collaboration between the public and commercial sectors.

He said that around 300 space businesses have emerged in India in the last five years, with financing totaling about $526 million. According to him, this indicates that investors are becoming more confident in India’s space industry and positions the nation to achieve a $44 billion space economy by 2033. Bhatt said that India’s first human spaceflight, the Gaganyaan mission, would also heavily include the business sector.

India’s future in space will depend on how well it exploits satellite data and connections to provide practical solutions, according to Krishnu Acharya, CEO and co-founder of Suhora Technologies. According to him, downstream technologies may be useful in governance, defense, infrastructure, agriculture, and disaster preparation.
