After sharp reactions from BJP leaders, the Congress party has removed its controversial social media post

New Delhi: The Congress party has removed its contentious social media post that included a headless billboard with the caption “GAYAB” (missing) that was directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after receiving harsh criticism from BJP officials.

Following the Pahalgam terror assault in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP criticized the Congress for the tweet and said it was repeating Pakistan’s narrative.

With the words “GAYAB” and the description “Jimmedariyo ke samay-Gayab” (Missing at the time of duty), the post included a picture of a kurta-pyjama and black sandals. The BJP and its allies strongly criticized this.

According to BJP spokesman Pradeep Bhandari, the Congress removed their “Sar Tan Se Juda” graphic tweet as a result of Indian citizens’ outcry.

“The Congress party removes their ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ graphic tweet after pressure from Indian citizens!” This will not conceal the Congress’s anti-national, pro-Pakistan characteristics,” he said in a post on X.

The Congress was also harshly criticized by BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia, who said that it was sending the incorrect message to Pakistan.

“They are letting Pakistan know that the Congress party supports Pakistan in this terrorist assault rather than their country. The Congressional party did not publish the information innocuously. It is an evil, toxic plot aimed at undermining our country’s integrity and specifically targeting the prime minister,” Bhatia said.

Additionally, he said, “It won’t be incorrect if we refer to the national political party that remains among us as the Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress. The Congress’s social media account posted a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘Sar tan se juda’ has become the doctrine of the Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress today, sending a clear message to Pakistan that Mir Jafar’s followers are present in India.”

The Prime Minister is one of the most engaged leaders the nation has ever seen, according to Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who backed him.

“Very few of the nation’s prime ministers have maintained as much active communication as this one. Although the Northeast’s population was isolated, the Prime Minister made several trips there and maintained communication with its residents. No previous prime minister has engaged with the nation’s youth, farmers, and laborers as aggressively as PM Modi has,” Singh added. Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister, too responded forcefully.

“Why does Congress hold our Prime Minister in such low regard while he is spearheading the war against terrorism? To what lengths will Congress go? “I detest the antics of this Congress party,” Rijiju said on X.

Prithiviraj Harichandan, the law minister for Odisha, said that under these circumstances, the opposition needs to back the administration.

“In reaction to the terror assault in Pahalgam, the Prime Minister and the Indian government have done the right thing and will keep doing so. However, the opposition is delivering a pro-Pakistan message rather than backing them. “Their remarks are unacceptable,” he said.

Amit Malviya, a BJP leader, said that the Congress was using religiously heated images for political ends.

“The Congress’s usage of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ imagery raises few questions. The reference is not just a political remark; it is a covert provocation against the Prime Minister and a dog whistle directed at its Muslim support base. Congress has previously employed such strategies. Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly called for and condoned violence against the prime minister. However, the Prime Minister has the affection and blessings of millions of Indians; thus, the Congress will never be successful. On X, Malviya said, “On the contrary, if anyone’s neck has been cut, it is the Congress—now reduced to a headless hydra, flailing without direction. Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, responded angrily to the tweet.

“Congress is hand in glove with Pakistani terrorists and their patrons, the killers of Hindus,” Dubey said in a post on X. According to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, the prime minister had time to campaign despite skipping the all-party meeting.

“PM Modi did not attend the meeting with all parties. We convened an all-party meeting on April 22 to discuss this matter. The PM did return, despite having gone to Bihar to campaign for the election. Ramesh said, “He has time to speak at the election campaign, but not at the all-party meeting.”
