The culprit is Irfan Ali, a native of Paharpur village in the Bakshi Ka Talab tehsil of Lucknow.

Ali distributed digitally altered photos of the leaders along with disparaging comments, which went viral on social media, according to police officers at the Mahigava police station.

After looking through his Facebook account, the police discovered a number of additional offensive messages that damaged the reputations of well-known public personalities and disrupted peace in the community.

Officials have responded sharply to the occurrence, emphasizing the necessity for more social media platform supervision to prevent similar crimes.

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror assault, which left 26 people horrifically dead, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier on Saturday said that police had arrested individuals for allegedly offering assistance to Pakistan.

He claims that the Cachar Police detained two people for posting pro-Pakistan propaganda.

Baktar Hussain Barbhuiya, a resident of Ramnagar under the Sonai police station, and Md. Imran Hussain Borbhuiya, a resident of Malugram Ganiwala under the Silchar police station, are the two people who were detained.

Baktar Hussain Barbhuiya, a resident of Ramnagar within the jurisdiction of Sonai Police Station, is one of two more people detained by Chachar Police for sharing pro-Pakistan propaganda on social media. Sarma wrote on X, “Md. Imran Hussain Borbhuiya, who lives in Malugram Ganiwala under the Silchar Police Station.”

“Pakistan Zindabad” was posted on Facebook by Md. Mustak Ahmed, who was also detained, according to Sarma. The accused, who lives in Saykut village and is within the jurisdiction of the Karimganj police station, was taken into custody late on Friday night.
