In Shimla, three individuals perished
Two different landslide accidents in Shimla on Saturday claimed the lives of three individuals, including a 35-year-old father and his daughter. After being buried, they passed away. At the same time, a landslide on Monday along Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath National Highway claimed two lives and wounded six more. At 7:34 a.m., the accident happened close to Munkatiya, between Sonprayag and Gaurikund.
According to Nandan Singh Rajwar, the district disaster management officer for Rudraprayag, rocks and stones tumbled down from the Munkatiya hill and struck a car traveling down the street. Two people perished instantly as a result, while six others were injured.
In addition, rain fell on Monday in a number of locations in Punjab, Haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The city with the most rainfall, Ludhiana, received 216.70 mm. The constant rain in Punjab has caused flooding in several regions.
Punjab’s educational institutions were closed till September 3
Due to the persistent rain, the Punjab government said on Monday that all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutions will be closed till September 3. Punjab had 253.7 mm of rain in August, 74 percent more than usual and the most in the state’s 25-year history, authorities said.

Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar are the districts in Punjab most impacted by flooding. A landslide on the Shimla-Kalka railway line in Himachal Pradesh has resulted in the cancellation of six trains and the closure of 793 roads around the state.
