Due to the continuous increase in the water level of the rivers of Gorakhpur district, the crisis of flood has deepened. The villages situated on the banks of the Ghaghra river are the most affected. Flood waters have entered 37 villages of Gola and Khajni tehsils. 41 boats had to be deployed in the affected villages.

The Ghaghra river reached 1.35 meters above the danger mark at Barhaj on Wednesday. Due to this, flood water entered 37 villages of Khajni and Gola tehsils. Due to this, more than 16 thousand people have been affected. An area of ​​3578 hectares has been submerged. However, the water level of the river in Ayodhya is coming down. Yet the river is flowing 27 cm above the danger mark.

The water level of Rapti river is rising continuously but is 47 cms below the danger mark. The water level of Gorra river is also going up but is 35 cms below the danger mark. Rohin river has crossed the danger mark and is now coming down. On Wednesday, the water level fell two centimeters below the danger mark. On the other hand, the administration is busy in flood-rescue. Apart from NDRF, personnel of other organizations has been put on alert.

The water level of the Ghaghra river in Ayodhya is depleting rapidly. From Thursday, the water will also start coming down in the district. Nothing to worry about. The Irrigation Department is working diligently in coordination with the administration. Apart from the engineers of the department, other employees are deployed to monitor the embankments.
