Donald Trump orders to immediately begin process of imposing 100 percent tariff on films

Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump said that he has instructed the US Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce to begin the process of imposing a 100 percent tax on all foreign-produced films entering the US right now.

He stated that the US film industry is rapidly declining, and foreign nations are offering incentives to entice American studios and artists to relocate, citing this as a “national threat.”

Trump said, “The American film industry is dying a very quick death,” in a message that was posted on his social media site, Truth Social. To entice our studios and filmmakers to leave the United States, other nations are providing various incentives. Many parts of the United States, including Hollywood, are in ruins. Such destruction poses a danger to national security since it is the result of coordinated efforts by other nations.

It’s propaganda and messaging, on top of everything else! As a result, I am giving the US Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce permission to start the process of imposing a 100% tariff on any films that are imported into the US that are made elsewhere. Once again, we want films produced in America.

The current trade battle between the United States and China coincides with Trump’s decision. China said on April 10 that it will “moderately reduce” the number of Hollywood films released in the Chinese market. China’s National Film Administration made a clear connection between its decision and US tariffs on Chinese goods.

“The wrong move by the US government to abuse tariffs on China will inevitably further reduce the domestic audience’s favorability towards American films,” China’s National Film Administration stated in a statement, according to Al Jazeera.

It said, “We will follow market rules, respect the audience’s choice, and moderately reduce the number of American films imported.”

Notably, Hollywood sends ten pictures to China annually, and the Chinese market used to be regarded as a major source of income for the US film industry.

According to Al Jazeera, Trump responded to China’s move by saying he was not concerned by the National Film Administration of China’s intention to attack the film sector. As Trump had put it when asked a question, “I think I’ve heard of worse things.”
