“Today’s very high rainfall caused some water to stand still in many locations around Delhi. I visited many locations starting at 5:30 am to assess the situation. While traveling to Minto Bridge, I saw that the operator was attentive and all four pumps were operational. I requested the repair of a busted pipe. Due to the monsoon, PWD, MCD, DJB, NDMC, and IFC are constantly cleaning the drains,” Verma said in the article.

In addition to causing major waterlogging and traffic jams in several areas of Delhi, the torrential downpour that started early Friday morning also interfered with airline operations.

Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Kuljeet Singh Chahal, responded to the waterlogging crisis by inspecting a few sites that were experiencing water stagnation after the intense rain. He assured the locals that efforts were underway to mitigate the effects.

“You’ll see that our traffic is moving nicely this time. Some areas are experiencing waterlogging; we are draining out all of the water using our four pumps. Additionally, we promptly cleaned the sewers. No person should experience any difficulty, as per our commitment,” Chahal told the media report.

Strong winds on Friday morning caused a neem tree to fall on a tubewell room at a farm in Kharkhari Canal village, Dwarka, killing four people, including a lady and her three children. The event has also resulted in one reported injury.

The RTR Hospital in Jafferpur Kalan declared the four individuals dead after their arrival.

According to Delhi Police, Ajay, the husband of the deceased woman, sustained minor wounds.

Heavy rain hit Delhi early this morning, causing waterlogging and traffic jams in several parts of the city.

The Delhi NCR is experiencing severe weather, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory, warning inhabitants to take precautions.

The caution suggests avoiding travel and staying home if at all feasible. In addition, the caution advises staying away from trees, concrete walls, and floors and instead finding cover in a secure area. Additionally, it suggests avoiding things that carry electricity, leaving water bodies right away, and disconnecting electrical and electronic devices to avoid damage or harm.
