TMC leader Abhishek targets the Meghalaya government over violence on the Assam border

Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee expressed grief over the violence at the disputed site on the Assam-Meghalaya border and said the incident showed the "incompetence" of the CK Sangma government. Six people, including a forest worker, were killed in the violence in the West Karbi Anglong district. The violence took place in the early hours of Tuesday when a truck allegedly carrying illegal timber was stopped by Assam forest officials.

Expressing grief over the incident, Banerjee tweeted on Tuesday, “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the extremely unfortunate incident of firing in Mukroh, Meghalaya in which five innocent civilians and a forest guard from Assam have lost their lives. Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said, “How long will Chief Minister Sangma allow Himanta Vishwa Sharma to take Meghalaya lightly?

How long will the people of Meghalaya continue to live in fear and insecurity? How long will this injustice continue." Taking a jibe at the CK Sangma government in Meghalaya, he said, "Today's incident has exposed the inefficiency of the MDA (Meghalaya Democratic Alliance) government."
