The Delhi unit of the Congress on Wednesday said it will waive dues of private residential buildings if the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is voted to power in the upcoming elections. Launching the "House Tax-Pichla Maaf, Aglaya Half" campaign, the party's Delhi unit chief Anil Chowdhary said his party would reduce property tax by 50 percent.
Chaudhary said, “It is unfortunate that the BJP has looted and threatened citizens in Delhi in the name of house tax. We will waive off dues of private residential buildings within a month and ensure that no house is charged more than half of the current property tax.
Chowdhary said the Delhi unit of the Congress would constitute a municipal valuation committee, which would re-categorize colonies under the MCD, and unit area rates would be decided based on the category of roads where the properties are located. "We will also ensure basic standards of civic infrastructure and services in all habitations and strengthen the Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC) project," he said. Voting for the MCD elections in Delhi will be held on December 4 and counting will take place on December 7. Will be in December.
