Siddharth Bodke who plays the pivotal role of David in Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Drishyam 2 is garnering a lot of positive response. But, David was not initially cast in the role for which he was cast. The actor himself has spoken about this. It was on the insistence of the film's director Abhishek Pathak that he auditioned for the role of David and as destiny would have it, he performed brilliantly in the audition and bagged the role.
Elaborating further, he told IANS, "I got a call from Vicky Sidana's casting agency and auditioned for another role in the film. I was also selected for that. Later director Abhishek Pathak offered me the role of David. And that's how I got the role. I must say I loved playing it as it was challenging."
The actor, who is currently seen in the popular TV show, 'Gum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein', further revealed how he prepared for his character in the film.
Highlighting his role in the film, he said, "It is a Goan Catholic character. I spoke to some local people in Goa to understand their dialect. Later, I asked the director to change the character's voice a bit, This was necessary as my character was earlier a drug dealer. I also tried to find some nuances of David. When I first met the director, he asked me to put on some weight so I put on around 4-5 pounds for the role. I put on kilos and my thick beard supported my look."
The film begins with Siddharth and his role is crucial in the climax.
On how the director explained to her, she said, "Abhishek told me everything before the shoot and we met at his office before leaving for Goa. He explained the entire graph and when we were on the set we went through the first graph. were discussing."
Further praising his director, he said, "Abhishek was very helpful, and even if I wanted to do another take he allowed me to do it as it was a bit challenging to express the subtle way with the eyes. I am happy." I am sure my character went well and people liked it."
Sidharth also shared his equation with Ajay Devgn on and off the sets. "It was wonderful working with him. He is a star, why is it you will know when you work with him. The way he carries his professionalism on the sets is commendable," she told IANS.
In the audience response to 'Drishyam 2', he said: "I feel very happy and fortunate that my first Bollywood film has become a hit at the box office."
